Riverview United Presbyterian Church

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In 1977 three Presbyterian congregations were merged to form one parish on Observatory Hill in Pittsburgh, which was named Riverview United Presbyterian Church. The old Moller pipe organ in the surviving building dated from the turn of the century and had been repeatedly modified over the years. By the early 1990s the organ had become a liability. It was decided, based on the poor condition of the pipework and the failure of the mechanism, to build an entirely new organ from the ground up. The resulting instrument of 27 ranks gives the organist a broad pallette of color with ample resources for creative registrations, and has provided reliable service for over 20 years.
